Welcome to Closer to God. By using our app or website, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. What Closer to God is

Closer to God is a Bible study and reflection app offering daily verses, lessons, audio stories, a private journal, prayers, and answers to common questions about faith. It's an independent, personal project — not affiliated with any church, denomination, or religious organization.

Nothing in the app constitutes professional, medical, psychological, or legal advice. If you're in crisis or need urgent support, please contact a licensed professional or local emergency services.

2. Free and Premium access

• The app offers free features (Daily Verse, core lessons, Journal basics, sample stories and questions) usable without payment or an account.
• Premium unlocks additional content (full story library with audio, the full Honest Doubts question library, and more) via a paid subscription or lifetime purchase.
• Subscriptions are billed and managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Cancel anytime through your device's subscription settings — we don't have the ability to cancel or refund purchases directly, as that's handled by Apple/Google per their own policies.
• Promotional codes (e.g. launch offers) are limited, non-transferable, and may be modified or discontinued at our discretion.

3. Your account and data

• The app currently works without requiring you to create an account with an email or password; your activity is tied to an anonymous identifier on your device.
• You're responsible for keeping your device secure, since your progress and journal are tied to it.
• If you uninstall the app or clear its data, locally-stored information may be lost; synced data tied to your device ID may still be recoverable — see our Privacy Policy for details.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to access, modify, or interfere with our systems, databases, or other users' data
• Misuse, resell, or generate promotional/discount codes without authorization
• Submit abusive, hateful, or harmful content if you use any story-submission or sharing feature

We may suspend or restrict access for violations of these terms.

5. User-submitted content

If you submit a personal story, testimony, or other content for possible inclusion in the app (e.g. via a "Share Your Story" feature), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to edit, adapt, and publish it within the app and our marketing materials, unless we agree otherwise with you in writing. You can request removal at any time by contacting us.

6. Intellectual property

All app content — lessons, illustrations, audio, design, and branding — is owned by us or licensed to us, except for public-domain scripture text. You may not copy, redistribute, or repurpose app content outside of personal use without our written permission.

7. Disclaimers

• The app is provided "as is." We work hard to keep it accurate and reliable, but we don't guarantee it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or available at all times.
• Interpretations, reflections, and answers offered in the app represent one perspective among many on matters of faith, and are not presented as absolute or official doctrine of any denomination.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability where it cannot be limited under applicable law (e.g. for gross negligence).

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. We'll update the "last updated" date above, and where changes are material, we'll aim to notify you in-app.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. [Confirm with your lawyer once your business entity's jurisdiction is finalized.]
